Provigil vs Nuvigil

How often do you struggle to keep yourself awake during the day? Sure, you might not fall asleep, but you will feel less energy than what you should have. You’ll be drowsy and sluggish. You’ll struggle to do basic things and of course operating anything heavy and dangerous such as a vehicle would put you and other people around you at risk. Medication can be an effective solution, but only if you know the right options to use. Provigil and Nuvigil are two good ones. Here’s a brief description of what these two drugs are.

Provigil

The generic name for Provigil is Modafinil. It’s a medication designed to promote wakefulness. It’s said to work by having an effect on natural chemicals inside the brain called neurotransmitters. It treats sleepiness brought on by sleep apnea, narcolepsy, or shift work disorder.

Nuvigil

The generic name for Nuvigil is Armodafinil. It’s a medication that helps treat people who have wakefulness problems. When used properly it can help promote wakefulness in those who suffer from sleepiness brought on by conditions such as sleep apnea, narcolepsy and shift work sleep disorder.

So which one of these medications is better for you, Provigil or Nuvigil?

When it comes to two well-known medications such as these, you can be sure that both have been properly tested, researched and have had a lot of money invested into the marketing of them. Both are designed to do the exact same thing, so there’s no difference there. So what would be one major factor to use as a means of comparing these two against each other? One serious point of differentiation would be there long term effectiveness.

Now there is no easy way to know which one of these is going to work better for you long term. The best way to get this sort of feedback would be to get in touch with a medical professional who would have the time and inclination to answer such questions. But here’s the real reason why long term effectiveness is important. If either of these drugs is able to work well enough for you, then this means you won’t have to take such a large dosage of it. This means you won’t have to be as concerned about the chances of side effects.

Also, if a medication has long term effectiveness than you can be sure you’ll be able to get the benefits of it for a long time to come. This means not having to switch to something else that might come with more risk or having to spend money on additional medications that when taken each day can cause unwanted side effects. Long term effectiveness means you’d sometimes be able to go a short while without using the medication, which in turn would lead to the drug remaining effective even longer because your body isn’t so used to it.

This is what you want. Doctors would have a good idea of which medication works better for sustained periods of time and this is the option you should go with. Even if either one of these would be the costlier choice, in the long run it would save you a lot of hassle.
